ScoutFest Cyber Campfire
Since the Atlanta Area Council ScoutFest is only as good as the events, exhibits, and excitement created by you, the Scouts, we've created an online "Cyber Campfire" to add another opportunity for you to contribute to the celebration.
The Cyber Campfire website is a community group on the public video-sharing site Vimeo and can be accessed at http://vimeo.com/groups/scoutfestatlanta. Anyone can view the videos, but to share your own videos or comment on the ones posted, you'll need to have a Vimeo account. You, your parent, or your scout leader will need to set one up by following the easy steps listed below.
The goal of the Cyber Campfire is for scouts and scout groups to upload videos about their scouting experience, whether it is a performance of their favorite skit, some candid video from a scouting event, or an original video about what Scouting and/or the 100th birthday of the BSA means to them. The best videos will be shown at the ScoutFest on October 23.
If you just want to view the videos, go to the group page and click on the word "Videos" (next to "Home" on the row of tabs). As the number of videos increases, we'll start to sort them into albums to make it easier to find your way around. We encourage you to make an account so you can log in to comment on your favorites. The best videos will be featured at ScoutFest in a special Cyber Campfire exhibit.
Joining the Cyber Campfire Group
1. Go to http://vimeo.com/sign_up

3. Check your inbox for the confirmation email from vimeo. You'll need to click the link in that email to be allowed to upload videos.
4. Go to the Cyber Campfire group http://vimeo.com/groups/scoutfestatlanta and click the blue "Join this group" link on the right-hand side.
5. You can now upload videos or comment on existing videos already posted to Cyber Campfire.
Instructions for Uploading Videos
1. First, create a vimeo account and join the Cyber Campfire group (see instructions above).
2. Make sure your video meets the Cyper Campfire Video Guidelines, listed below (and on the group page).
3. From any vimeo page, click the "Upload" link in the toolbar at the top of the window.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions for uploading. Please make your video viewable by all users, so that our moderators will be able to see and approve it once you submit it to the group. You can watch the vimeo tutorials if you are not familiar with manipulating video files.
5. Once your video uploads, it will take an hour or so to be processed by vimeo, during which time it is unavailable to watch. Vimeo will send you an email once your video is ready.
6. Submit your video to the Cyber Campfire group by going to the video page and clicking the "add" tab on the right hand side, then selecting the group ScoutFest Atlanta Cyber Campfire.
7. All videos submitted to Cyber Campfire must be approved as scouting-appropriate content by one of our moderators. This usually takes 1-3 days. We'll send you a message through vimeo once it is approved so you can send out a link and share with your friends. Unless you've changed your vimeo settings, this message will be sent to the email address you used when you set up your account.
Video Guidelines
In order to be eligible to be featured at ScoutFest, videos must be submitted (not just uploaded to your account) by September 1, 2010.
Please make sure all videos are not only scouting-appropriate, but are also relevant to the themes of the ScoutFest 2010. Videos will be rejected if they are obscene in any way, contain any profanity, or if they have no relevance to scouting.
Please limit videos to 3 minutes or less.
You can upload and submit as many videos as you want, so get your whole pack, troop, crew, ship, team or family involved and start sharing your scouting experience with us!
Remember, if you create one of the best videos, you may see yourself on a big screen at the 2010 ScoutFest!
